Tante Nino is proud to have officially become a Residency Host in 2024 for the Culture Moves Europe Residency Action Programme of the European Commission and Goethe Institut.
Between 1–30 July, 2024, Tante Nino hosted Linea Generale, a new sextet with members from Italy and Rotterdam. They were invited to complete the residency after winning the title "Most Promising New Act of 2023" after blowing us all away during their debut concert at Tante Nino in November 2023. The ensemble worked hard on material for their debut album and performed their new songs at the end of the residency.
The six musicians met during the 2023 Nuoro Jazz seminars, where they were named “best participants of the edition.” Their musical connection formed the basis of their harmony. In 2024, they will perform at the prestigious Nuoro Jazz Festival and receive a scholarship. During their residency, they focused on their artistic development and preparations for their debut album, which they will record in Sardinia in August.
The music of Linea Generale is characterised by improvisation and lyrical compositions, inspired by artists such as Bill Frisell and Lee Konitz.
