Eric Dolphy (Los Angeles 1928, Berlin 1964) was a multi-instrumentalist and composer active in the post-bop and avangarde scene of the early 60s in New York. We decided to dedicate a night to his music, because we strongy believe that his lesson of music and life has been one of the most precious and rare in music history, and its still influencing the music of today. His textural and innovative approach to improvisation but also the depth of his roots in the jazz and afro american tradition are something of the things that we deeply admire of Eric Dolphy.
